The tale of the “Redondinhos” housing mission in Heliópolis, São Paulo started with a misinterpreted quote via Ruy Ohtake. In 2003, a magazine revealed the next observation attributed to the celebrated architect and concrete planner: “What I in finding maximum unsightly in São Paulo is Heliopolis.” After seeing the record, Ohtake clarified that his aim was once to mention that the ugliest within the town is the adaptation between wealthy and deficient neighborhoods – “the adaptation between the Morumbi community and Heliopolis, the most important favela,” he corrected.

Considering this, Ohtake designed the development with out corridors. “With staircase stream and a 5 via 5 corridor for the four entrances of the residences,” he defined. “The guys mentioned: ‘What a ravishing answer, that is nice, let’s transfer on.’ Then I mentioned: ‘It’s not that i am glad… I’m going to do it spherical.'”

The collection of the rounded form, which changed into a landmark of the structures, was once now not just for aesthetic functions. “In the rounded structures, you should separate the structures. The Role of Professionals in Social Architecture

For Ohtake, the position of the architect and concrete planner is greater when operating in social structure. “When operating in social techniques, the architect should suppose two foremost attitudes: as a technician and as a citizen. It is very important to speak to the group, really feel what the folk assume, now not in a closed place of business to design in isolation.”
